Supreme Court To Hear Arvind Kejriwal’s Plea Against Arrest On April 15
by OB Bureau · Odisha BytesNew Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on April 15.
A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will hear the matter, reported ANI.
On April 9, Delhi High Court upheld the Delhi chief minister’s arrest by the central agency.
ED arrested Kejriwal last month in connection with a money-laundering probe linked to the Delhi excise policy case. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court last week sent him to judicial custody till April 15.
Kejriwal moved Supreme Court after the high court didn’t give him any relief, saying there was no contravention of legal provisions and ruling that ED had sufficient materials to justify the arrest.
The single-judge bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma had said ED couldn’t be blamed for choosing the timing of Kejriwal’s arrest as he pushed the agency to a point where it had no other option. The Delhi CM had snubbed all nine summons by ED.
