Highlights! Jiri Prochazka goes full zombie mode, walks down Aleksandar Rakic for violent TKO | UFC 300
by Dan Hiergesell · MMAmania.comJiri Prochazka turned into a zombie earlier tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, walking through everything Aleksandar Rakic had to offer to earn a second-round TKO (punches).
This was one of the more anticipated matchups on UFC 300’s stacked card given the differing, yet equally dangerous, striking games of Prochazka and Rakic. The betting odds were about even, but it was Prochazka who has shown the better ability to find a finish inside of the Octagon. The former UFC light heavyweight champion proved that again on Saturday night.
Prochazka completely left defense out of his gameplan as he waded forward from the opening bell. Rakic is a more technical striker so he waited for Prochazka to enter into range with his hands down to land crisp punches. He also landed countless leg kicks that staggered Prochazka early and often. It didn’t matter, though, as Prochazka kept pushing forward to land awkward punches and find his own offense.
Prochazka kept his persistence up in the second round and it started to wilt Rakic. The former UFC champion landed a nasty right hand that had Rakic hurt. Rakic stumbled around the cage as Jiri chased him down with more offense. He eventually knocked Rakic to the canvas and jumped on top for a barrage of final punches before the ref stepped in.
