Alex Pereira lands one powerful punch, finishes Jamahal Hill easily to retain Light Heavyweight title

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight knockout artists Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill will polish off UFC 300 tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It’s been incredible so far.

Pereira and Hill were probably not supposed to headline the historic pay-per-view (PPV) event this evening. But, that’s just fine — it’s a great fight between a reigning champion and a former champion who never really lost his belt.

That’s not even mentioning the “disrespect” or “health” angles.

Nevertheless, Pereira’s rise to stardom has been remarkable, while Hill’s rise to the top was much less meteoric. “Sweet Dreams” is still a relatively fresh face at 205 pounds ... “Poatan” certainly is not.

Enough talk — it’s time to fight!

Live updates will begin to flow below the moment the two fighters make their way to the Octagon ...

Don’t miss a single second of EPIC face-punching action!

Hill, the challenger, was the first to make the walk to the Octagon ... cool, calm and collected:

Then, it was time for “Poatan” to make his way to the cage, terrifying as always:

Round one:

Hill did not seem overwhelmed by the magnitude of the moment whatsoever, watching and waiting for Pereira to walk into the cage throughout his entire entrance. He was then in the center of the cage, waiting for Pereira to get the pre-fight instructions from referee, Herb Dean. Low kick from Pereira got the action started, then Hill countered with a few inside leg kicks of his own. Straight left hand from Hill was just out of range, but a lunging overhand right moments after found its mark. Hill telegraphed a high kick, but it was blocked without issue. Pereira tried to trap Hill along the cage around the two-minute mark, and then, just like that, Hill was on his backside. Pereira hit him with a short uppercut that dropped Hill like a bad habit. He then followed him to the ground with a barrage of strikes, forcing Dean to step in and stop the action. Hill appeared to go out, then come back to life after a few head bouncers, but it was too late — he was definitely in the shadow realm.

Final result: Pereira def. Hill via knockout (punches) in round one
