Robertson says Liverpool still in title race despite Palace setback
· The Football FaithfulAndy Robertson has said Liverpool are still in the Premier League title race despite losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Liverpool blew the chance to move top of the Premier League after a shock setback at home to the Eagles, with Eberechi Eze scoring a first-half winner at Anfield.
The Eagles had not won in 10 Premier League away games but opened up the title race with an upset of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool were again wasteful as Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah all missed good chances, for a Reds team who had 70% of the ball and fired 21 efforts on goal.
The Merseysiders led the Premier League table heading into last weekend but dropped points in consecutive games against Manchester United and Palace have left Liverpool chasing Arsenal and Manchester City at the summit.
“We’re third and now we have to chase. Then when games run out with six games left it’s not a great position to be in,” Robertson said to Sky Sports.
“We will keep fighting, keep going to the end, and let’s see where it gets us. The two teams around us are playing fantastically well at the moment and we are not in the greatest moments.
“I think we are always still in it. We are still there. If Arsenal win they are three clear, and Man City two. We were in a strong position this time last week, we were the leaders and they were chasing us, and now to be third is very frustrating. With six games to go we will give it everything we have got. The problem is there’s two world class team doing it as well and that’s the difficult part.
“We have to keep going, trying to win every game. We cannot afford to slip up now. We need six wins and if we get that then let’s see where we end up. It’s not the ideal position to be in that’s for sure.”
