Man City's next six fixtures compared to Arsenal and Liverpool as Blues go top of Premier League
Manchester City beat Luton Town on Saturday to go top of the Premier League ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal playing on Sunday
by Alex James · Manchester Evening NewsManchester City have done what they needed to do against Luton Town this afternoon as they piled on the pressure in the Premier League title race.
The Blues got off to the perfect start at the Etihad Stadium as Erling Haaland attempted a remarkable bicycle kick which deflected in off the unfortunate Daiki Hashioka. While City were in complete control of the first half, they struggled to increase their advantage against the relegation-threatened Hatters.
The game fell into a comfortable lull in the second half but with half an hour to go the Blues added a second as Mateo Kovacic produced a brilliant half-volley to double the advantage and Haaland got his goal with an emphatic penalty. Ross Barkley bagged a consolation less than ten minutes from time but the three-goal advantage returned in the 87th minute as Jeremy Doku weaved his way through the defence to score and Josko Gvardiol added the cherry on top of the cake with a strong strike in stoppage time.
