Sydney stabbing - Police share update on nine-month-old baby girl who was injured in horror attack

by Chloe Stewart · The MirrorNew South Wales Police have shared an update on those injured in the horror stabbing spree in a Sydney shopping centre, including a nine-month-old baby girl.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb confirmed four women and one man died in the gruesome attack at a Westfield Mall in Bondi Junction, in addition to the attacker.
The victims included 38-year-old mother Ash Good, who tragically died in hospital after the attack. Good heroically threw her nine-month-old baby girl, who was also stabbed, towards strangers in a bid to protect her life.
Giving an update on the baby girl on Sunday, NSW Health Minister Ryan Park confirmed a nine-month old had undergone surgery following the attack and was now in intensive care.

He also shared: "We have around about 12 people in hospital, some of them varying from critical to more stable," in a chat with Today.
Park praised the heroic actions of the paramedics and other frontline emergency personnel.
He said: "Those brave paramedics and those brave police officers, people are alive this morning, Karl, because of their work and their bravery."
Joel Cauchi has been identified as the knife-wielding attacker. Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke said that Cauchi had moved from Queensland to New South Wales last month.
He also said that police had spoken to his family and they were cooperating with law enforcement. Cauchi was shot by a lone police officer at the scene. Inspector Amy Scott entered the mall after learning of reports of the stabbing.
NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley told Today: "She was just on general duties, just in around the precinct, got the call and went to the scene immediately, and was confronted by the perpetrator.
"He dived at her and she shot him ." Catley explained Scott shared that "the bystanders around really helped as well".
Speaking about the killer's movements ahead of the attack, Cooke said: "We know that shortly after coming to Sydney, he took possession of a storage facility that has been identified and we have worked through that very small storage facility."
The NSW Assistant Commissioner also shared that while the reason for the attack was not confirmed, he expected it was related to the killer's mental health.
