Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila, on Saturday, criticized her paternal aunt Y S Vimalamma for defending the killers of her uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy and her brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is allegedly shielding the murder accused.

Sharmila strongly rebutted Vimalamma's advice to her and Viveka’s daughter Dr. N Sunitha, urging them to refrain from publicizing the Viveka murder case and tarnishing the reputation of the YSR family.

"While she is indeed my maternal aunt, age seems to be catching up with her. Moreover, the scorching summer heat may have affected her judgment. That's why she is making baseless remarks about the Viveka murder case," Sharmila remarked.

She emphasized that both she and Sunitha are striving solely to attain justice for the Viveka family.

"Our statements are backed by evidence. We are merely asserting that the evidence aligns with the findings of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)," she clarified.

Sharmila reiterated that her primary objective in raising the issue repeatedly is to prevent the murder accused from entering legislative bodies.

"We aim to put an end to the politicization of murder. We are well aware of the true conspirators, as there is substantial evidence to support our claims," she added.

Additionally, Sharmila provided insight into why Vimalamma was defending Jagan.

"Her son has received numerous favors from the Jagan government, benefiting financially from projects awarded by Jagan. Hence, she is advocating for him. However, she seems to have forgotten that her own brother was the victim of a murder," she concluded.
