Andhra Chief Minister injured after stones thrown during Vijayawada roadshow

Stones were thrown at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy during a roadshow in Vijayawada. He sustained slight injuries in the incident.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was injured during a roadshow in Vijayawada on Saturday. Stones were thrown during the roadshow, with one of them hitting the Andhra Chief Minister.

Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered a small cut on the left side of his temple, above his eye.

Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao, who was present with the Chief Minister during the campaign, also sustained injuries.

Jagan Mohan Reddy received medical treatment in a bus and then continued with his roadshow, 'Memantha Siddham Bus Yatra'.

“The stone struck the CM while he was acknowledging the crowds as part of his bus tour at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada,” said a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

YSRCP leaders claimed that workers from the Telugu Desam Party were involved in the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the Chief Minister a speedy recovery in a post on X.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned the attack on Jagan Mohan and said in a post on X, "I condemn the stone-throwing on Hon'ble Andhra Pradesh CM Thiru @ysjagan. Political differences should never escalate to violence. Let's uphold civility and mutual respect as we engage in the democratic process. Wishing him a quick recovery."

Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and Telangana MLA KT Rama Rao also condemned the attack. Sharing a picture of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said in a post on X, "Glad you are Safe. Take care @ysjagan Anna Strongly condemn the attack on AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy Garu. Violence has no place in democracy and I hope strict preventive measures are put in place by ECI."

The elections for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Andhra Pradesh will be held on May 13.
