A woman in Delhi was stabbed to death by her 15-year-old neighbour during a confrontation over filling water from a common tap at their residential building. The accused girl has been apprehended by the Delhi Police and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

The incident took place in the city's Farsh Bazar area. The police received a call at around 11 pm on April 12 from the 34-year-old victim's husband, Satbir, that his wife had been stabbed in the stomach and needed an ambulance.

A police team rushed to Gali no 2, Bhikam Singh Colony and found the victim, identified as Soni, who also received several cuts on her left hand besides the stab wound.

She was immediately taken to the Hedgewar Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

During the investigation, it was revealed that earlier that day, Soni and Satbir engaged in a verbal spat with their neighbour and her daughter, the accused girl, earlier that evening over filling water from the common tap on the first floor of their residential building.

The police said that Soni twisted the girl's hand during the confrontation, following which the latter sought treatment at Hedgewar Hospital. She was treated as a non-Medico Legal Case (MLC) patient, and an X-ray of her hand was conducted.

The girl then returned home with her mother and engaged in another fight with Soni and Satbir later that night, during which the accused stabbed the victim.

According to the police, there are four houses on the first floor of the building, which are occupied by three separate families, while the fourth is used by the owner.

The occupants of these four houses use a common toilet and a common tap. There is a small space near the tap which is used by the tenants for washing clothes and utensils.

On the day of the incident, the accused girl's mother was filling water in a tub for washing clothes, but the victim wanted to wash her utensils and removed the tub before it was filled.

This was the reason for the argument that ensued later that day.

Similar fights have occurred between the tenants in the past as well, but none of them were reported to the police.
