New Delhi: A day after special cell of the Delhi Police arrested climate activist Disha Ravi from Bengaluru for her alleged role in spreading a “toolkit” linked to the farmers’ protest, her family rejected the allegation and termed it as false.

“We are extremely distressed to find out that our daughter, an avid animal lover and sole earning member of the family was whisked away forcefully by members of Delhi Police. She is a young advocate for climate change and has been actively participating in awareness initiatives with different youth-based environmental groups," the family said.

Ravi is one of the founders of the "Friday for Future" campaign and it has been alleged that she edited the toolkit and forwarded it.

More arrests will be made in the coming days

During the initial interrogation, she acknowledged that she had edited, added some things and spread the toolkit further.

The special cell will now make further inquiries after her remand, reported ANI and as per the sources more arrests will be made in the coming days.

This development comes after Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg extended support to protest by farmer unions on the borders of Delhi and posted the “toolkit” in a tweet which was later deleted.

Last week, the Delhi Police wrote to Google seeking registration details and activity log of the account through which a “toolkit” related to the farmers’ protest was created and uploaded on the social media platforms.

In the letter, Delhi Police mentioned two e-mail IDs, one Instagram account, and one Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and asked for details from the respective platforms.

An FIR was also registered against unidentified persons.

Canada-based pro-Khalistan group ‘Poetic Justice Foundation’ is the creator of the “toolkit”.

The toolkit had called for “digital strike-through hashtags on or before January 26, taking part in tweetstorms on January 23 onwards, and protesting at or near Indian embassies against the Centre’s three farm laws.

Delhi Police said that the “toolkit” was created with an intention to spread disaffection and ill-will against the government of India and creating disharmony among various social, religious and cultural groups.
