Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in May 2019, announcing soon after that they would step away from the royal household and move from the United Kingdom to the US.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Sunday confirmed to The People and Sky News that they are expecting their second child.

"We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother," a spokesperson for the couple said, referring to Meghan and Harry's son. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."

Soon after the news was broken, a statement from the Buckingham Palace followed, with the UK royal family expressing delight over Meghan's pregnancy.

“Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the entire family are ‘delighted’ and wish them well", the statement said.

The couple's friend and photographer Misan Harriman shared a black and white photo of the Sussexes, where Meghan is seen pregnant, lying on Harry's knees, with both smiling.

Meghan and Harry, who announced their intention to step down from their royal duties and live independent of Buckingham Palace in January 2020, welcomed their first child, son Archie, in May 2019. The same year, they moved to Canada and then to the US, planning to split their time between the UK and North America.

Recently, the couple secured a lucrative contract with Netflix to produce children's shows, movies and documentaries.
