The BJP manifesto has promised that if the party is elected to power, the Centre will work with the Kerala government and all stakeholders to sensitively manage the human-animal conflict in areas close to forest, Kerala BJP President K Surendran said.

The move will provide a huge relief to the farmers living in the forest fringes in Wayanad and the rest of the country, he added.

K Surendran, who is also the NDA candidate, has been pitted against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.

Man-wildlife conflicts are common in the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Wayanad and Kannur in the state.

The Kerala Assembly even passed a resolution on February 14 that called on the Centre to amend the Act and simplify the procedures to deal with wild animals that pose a threat to human life and property.

The ruling Left Democratic Front and the opposition United Democratic Front, led by the Congress, have been pushing for amendments to the Wildlife Act of 1972, which falls under the concurrent list. They argue that amendments are necessary to address the increasing incidents of human-animal conflicts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday released the BJP's manifesto titled 'Modi ki Guarantee' for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. It comprises 30 promises of 14 pillars, focusing on women, youth, poor and the farmers.
