New Delhi: After completing the disengagement process along Pangong Tso, India and China are holding the 10th round of talks to discuss de-escalation along the other points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The meeting is currently underway at Moldo, on the Chinese side of the LAC.

According to officials, the two sides are expected to discuss disengagement from other friction points along the LAC. The Indian and Chinese armies disengaged from the northern banks of Pangong Tso last week after arriving at a consensus to withdraw to pre-standoff positions.

"This agreement was reached after several rounds of sustained negotiations at the military and diplomatic level," Anurag Srivastava, MEA Spokesperson said in a press briefing earlier during the week. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also briefed both the Houses of the Parliament and underlined that his government will not allow even an inch of Indian territory to be taken by its adversaries.

"India's strategy and approach during disengagement talks with China are based on directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that we will not allow an inch of our territory to be taken by anyone. It is a result of our firm resolve that we have reached the situation of an agreement," Singh had said in the Parliament.

The standoff along the LAC began in April-May last year after China unilaterally altered the status quo along the de-facto boundary between the two countries. The standoff, the longest so far, also witnessed violent clashes between the two armies. In fact, a day before today's talks, China acknowledged the names of its soldiers who lost lives in the Galwan clash.
