E Sreedharan, popularly known as the 'Metro Man', is all set to begin his political innings as a BJP leader in Kerala. Ahead of his first formal induction into the party, Sreedharan told India Today TV that he would want to be the chief minister of Kerala.

Speaking to India Today TV, E Sreedharan said that there will be a landslide switch over to the BJP if he is projected as the chief minister face.

"I have no intention to become a governor even if it is offered to me. But chief minister, that is for the party to decide. I feel that if I'm projected as the chief ministerial face, a large group of people who are unhappy with both the fronts in Kerala will certainly come with us. There will be a landslide switch over to the party. With that, BJP can have sufficient number of seats and they can come to power", he said.

Sreedharan also said that he has been a BJP sympathizer since a very long time. "Officially I haven't been with the party but I was a BJP sympathizer right from the beginning, particularly when I was a student, I actively attended RSS meetings. Naturally I grew into BJP. They are people who are upright and compassionately works for the country and naturally my choice was BJP," the Metro Man shared.

While he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership skills, he sharply criticized the state government in Kerala.

"The present government has failed to bring any major project to the state. There are no industries in the state which is leading to unemployment among the educated youth. The national highway and Nilambur Nanjangud rail projects are yet to be implemented. All those projects that are being claimed to be implemented by the government are from the previous UDF governments," said Sreedharan.

Sreedharan has also raised concerns about the beef controversy in Kerala and said that some sections of the people deliberately tried to provoke the religious sentiments of other communities. He also alleged that the Christian community has been victimised by love jihad.
