We simulated Newcastle vs Tottenham to predict huge Premier League clash

Tottenham travel to Newcastle on Saturday as Spurs look to continue their hunt for a Premier League top-four spot

Tottenham can go three points clear in fourth place later today with a win away to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

After Aston Villa's 3-3 draw with Brentford, Spurs overtook the West Midlands side into fourth place on goal difference following the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend. Spurs still have a game in hand over Villa, and with Ange Postecoglou's side involved in the early kick-off, it means they can take an advantage over their top-four rivals before they clash with Arsenal tomorrow.

Next up for Spurs is a tough trip to Newcastle, with the Magpies having lost just three times at home all season. The last meeting between the two saw Postecoglou's side win 4-1, though the clash at St. James' Park last season ended 6-1 to Newcastle, a result that Spurs fans won't want to be thinking about ahead of kick-off.

We simulated Newcastle United vs Spurs to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Newcastle could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Dubravka; Krafth, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Anderson; Barnes, Isak, Gordon.

We predict that Spurs could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Werner.

Spurs started on the front foot at St. James' Park, and they almost went ahead in the third minute when Heung-Min Son picked out the run of Timo Werner, but the German sent his shot the wrong side of the far post. The pressure continued from Postecoglou's side, and in the 23rd minute, they took the lead.

Some nice footwork from Rodrigo Bentancur saw the midfielder push through the Newcastle midfield with ease before firing a pass out to Brennan Johnson on the right. The winger beat his man before lifting a cross into the box, and unmarked, Bentancur met the ball with a powerful header to put his side one goal ahead.

The visitors then grabbed a second just before the break, this time Bentancur the provider as his flicked pass to Son inside the box was slotted into the far corner from close range. Newcastle had barely threatened the Spurs goal all game, and just 10 minutes after the restart, Spurs scored another.

James Maddison fizzed a pass into the feet of Werner who picked up the ball with his back to goal, and a clever backheel from the German picked out Son on the overlap. The striker surged through on goal before opening his body up to shoot, and he fooled the 'keeper by firing the ball in at the near post instead to make it 3-0.

Newcastle almost pulled a goal back in the 88th minute when Alexander Isak beat the high line to go one-on-one with Guglielmo Vicario, but the 'keeper was alert enough to make a top save and preserve his side's clean sheet in a big win on the road.

EA FC 24 predicted final score: Newcastle 0-3 Tottenham
