Fears for Kanye West amid Kim Kardashian 'divorce' as 'he knows marriage is over'

Kanye West has prompted fears about his mental health as he realises that rumours of his divorce from Kim Kardashian are looking to become a reality.

The 43-year-old rapper is said to be struggling with "anxiety" as he continues to be estranged from the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and their children.

He is realising that his time with Kim, 40, is up and those close to him are worried that it will send him into a downward spiral.

A source close to Kanye has told PEOPLE : "Kanye is not doing well.

"He is anxious and very sad. He knows that the marriage is over, and there's nothing that can be done right now.

"He also knows what he is losing in Kim."

It has been reported that Kim had instructed divorce lawyers in July last year, amid a turbulent time for the couple and with Kanye living at his Wyoming ranch while she stays in Calabasas with the kids, there seems to be no reconcilliation.

An insider told PEOPLE: "They are just not on the same page when it comes to their future as a family. And Kim is okay with it."

Kanye has been outspoken against Kim's mum, Kris Jenner, in the past and his actions have caused consternation in the family.

Kim has defended the rapper in public as well as acting as a mediator between and various family members.

The source added: "She has defended him privately to her family.

"She has stood beside him at a time where a few wives would have done that."

It is believed that a split is imminent, with the source saying: "There is very little hope of reconciliation. It would have to be a miracle. But Kanye does believe in miracles."

The couple's children - daughters North, seven, and Chicago, three, and sons Saint, five, and Psalm, who turns two in May - all live with Kim in California but Kim is insistent that Kanye remains a big part of their lives.

The source continued: "Kim has made it clear that Kanye can talk to his children anytime he wants.

"She has never threatened to keep him from the kids. She only requires that he is not going to damage them.

"Kanye can FaceTime the kids anytime he wants. He hasn't been great about that, but everyone is encouraging him to do it."

With divorces often messy affairs, the source said that "Kim doesn't want to hurt him."

"She just knows she can't be married to him anymore. He is very aware that she has been a good wife. He still loves her very much. But he understands," the source added.
