Ron Goldman's dad shares emotional tribute to son after OJ Simpson's death aged 76

Ron Goldman's dad has spoken out about his son following OJ Simpson's death, stating that it renewed memories of his son all over again and made him realise just how long it's been since the murder.

"It is a reminder of how long Ron has been gone and how much we miss him," Fred Goldman told the Mirror. "The only thing that is truly important are the victims," he continued as he added: "There is nothing that is more important than the loss of my son and the loss of Nicole."

Ron was murdered in 1994 alongside OJ's ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, a crime that shocked the nation. In another interview with NBC News, Fred told the outlet that OJ's death was "no great loss to the world" as he added that the battle OJ faced with prostate cancer "has nothing to do with closure".

OJ was arrested for the crime after an infamous slow-speed car chase that lasted for around 45 minutes and ended at his estate in Brentwood, where he turned himself in peacefully. It was reported that, inside the car, OJ had been holding a gun to his head and was threatening suicide as he blamed himself for what had happened.

But OJ was ultimately acquitted of the murders in the 11-month trial that became a media circus. He was, however, found liable in a separate civil suit filed by the Goldman family, including Fred, that resulted in OJ being asked to pay the family around $33.5 million (£26.7million) in damages — an amount he never ended up paying the totality of due to a string of excuses and a bankruptcy filing at one point,
