Barack Obama has arrived in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit.

The former US President follows current US leader Joe Biden who earlier spent two days in the city as the conference got underway.

The 60-year-old touched down at Glasgow Airport on Sunday evening and will give a talk at the event on Monday.

He previously confirmed on Twitter that he'll be speaking at the climate conference.

It'll be the first time he has been in the country since his last visit in 2017.

In his tweet, he posted: "Five years ago, the Paris Agreement went into effect. Paris provided an important framework in the fight against climate change, but it wasn’t enough.

"That’s why I’ll be speaking in Glasgow on Monday about the road ahead and what young people in particular can do to help."

He is set to speak on the progress made in the five years since the Paris Agreement took effect, highlight the leadership of young people around the globe, and urge more robust action going forward by everyone from governments to the private sector.

It is not known how long he will remain in Scotland, though the 12-day climate summit itself will conclude on November 12.

Though following his trip in 2017, in which he tried diet Irn-Bru and took in a round of golf, he promised he would come back to enjoy the “full Scottish experience”.
