Rs 50 crore in 2 days! Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif's Sooryavanshi continues to maintain strong hold at box office

Sooryavanshi has successfully crossed the Rs 50 crore mark within 2 days of release. The Rohit Shetty directorial starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif was off to a flying start on opening day (Nivember 5) by grossing Rs 26.29 crore on day 1. The first day figures came as a big relief for the entire film industry considering the theatres were lacking business since almost 2 years now due to the pandemic lockdown.

Even today, most of the theatres across Maharashtra and other states are operating with only 50 percent occupancy. So when a film performs so exceptionally well at the box office despite the audience capacity cutting down to half,  it surely screams blockbuster in more ways than one.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has elaborated on Sooryavanshi's successful run at the box office by anticipating the film to hit Rs 75 crore-Rs 80 crore in 3 days. According to his trade talk, Sooryavanshi has managed to perform better than Akshay's pre-COVID releases like Kesari, Good Newwz.

Further talking about Sooryavanshi's business in comparison to Akshay's previous holiday hits, he added, "#Sooryavanshi is TRENDING BETTER than #AkshayKumar’s Hits like #Kesari, #HF4 and #GoodNewwz… These were released in *pre-#Covid* times with *100% occupancy* across #India… #Sooryavanshi is *post-#Covid* times with *50% occupancy* [#Maharashtra and few states}"

Sooryavanshi reportedly sold more than 70,000 tickets in less than 24 hours on day 1.As per a report by ticketing platform BookMyShow, Sooryavanshi managed to sell 17 tickets per second, proving to one and all that it is a must-watch entertainer. Rohit Shetty was so amazed looking at the thunderous response from the audience that he shared this report and quoted a dialogue from his film, Chennai Express starring Shah Rukh Khan. "Don't underestimate the power of common man", wrote Rohit.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi also stars Singham Ajay Devgn and Simmba Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles. Rohit has created a cop universe by bringing all his leading cops together in one film.
