The Pixel 6 Pro undergoes the JerryRigEverything durability test ↺

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has launched with potential vast improvements in UX, camera performance and specs on the previous 5. It has also debuted with a substantial redesign compared to the 2020 flagship. Now, a new video investigates whether its new look makes it any less durable.

Zach Nelson has just featured the 6 Pro as the latest device to face the dreaded introduction to the JerryRigEverything channel. The famous vlogger found it has more metal and glass than the "bio-resin"-coated Pixel 5. On the other hand, he did find that it owes part of the shape of the new visor-like rear camera hump to plastic at the sides.

The 6 Pro's display also emerged unscathed, besides the usual "scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7"; then again, it was left with much more permanent scars than usual at the end of the classic 'burn test'. Nevertheless, the phone proved as resistant to a concerted bend test as did the Pixel 5 (if not the 4 XL) before it. Therefore, new Pixel users have nothing to worry about - in that respect, at least.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
