Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘to avoid sack’ despite chastening loss to rivals Man City

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not in any immediate danger of being sacked, it has been reported.

The Norwegian boss is under huge pressure at Old Trafford and a limp display in a 2-0 loss to Man City only made matters worse.

The scoreline flattered the Red Devils, who barely laid a glove on Pep Guardiola’s side in a dire Manchester derby defeat, which came two weeks after a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool.

Speculation is set to continue about the club legend’s future, especially with Dean Smith and Daniel Farke losing their jobs at Aston Villa and Norwich, respectively, over the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur have also made a managerial change, swapping Nuno Espirito Santo for Antonio Conte, a man who was reportedly interesting the Man United hierachy.

But, according to the Athletic, there are no immediate plans to terminate Solskjaer’s deal.

That means the 48-year-old is set to take charge of United for their encounter with Watford on November 20.

The Hornets sit 17th in the Premier League table with 10 points having woin just three games so far this campaign.

They have also had a managerial change with Claudio Ranieri replacing Xisco Munoz.

It’s believed a lack of credible replacements is contributing to United’s decision to stick with their man despite a clear downturn in form.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino, and Zinedine Zidane are among those being linked.

After the game with Watford, United then face Villarreal in the Champions League before playing Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League.
