Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes huge Manchester United confession

Manchester United find themselves in a very tough spot right now. Not only have they struggled for results this season but they have also struggled to compete whenever they have come up against good teams. The 2-0 defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Old Trafford was a good example of that.

It did not even look likely that Manchester United could get a win on the day and to be honest, the gulf between the two clubs was much larger than the scoreline would suggest. If not for the brilliance of David de Gea, who has been on top form all season, Guardiola’s side could have easily scored more.

Coming into the season, Manchester United were expected to compete for the Premier League title but at the moment, it looks like they could struggle to finish in the top four if they don’t improve.

And Solskjaer has admitted that the club are far off from the top teams. Journalist Shamoon Hafez tweeted out comments from the manager:

Manchester United have struggled to even compete against the top teams this season

The 5-0 defeat against Liverpool was a result that will be talked about for years to come. And while the scoreline was nowhere near that against Manchester City, at the end of the day, Guardiola’s side cruised to a victory in a Manchester Derby.

Coming into the game, Manchester United had causes to be positive. But that did not show on the pitch at all.

Now, the focus must be on coming back from the international break looking like a different team and going on a good run of results. Manchester United certainly have the squad to compete for the Premier League title. They will need to show it on the pitch though.

If things don’t improve soon, the club might have no other choice but to show Solskjaer the Old Trafford exit door.
