Cristiano Ronaldo and the Manchester United dressing room fears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cannot change

United's dreary defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool have Solskjaer's tenure on the ropes.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly leading calls in the Manchester United over concerns about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's management.

The Norwegian's position looks increasingly tenuous after their early title prospects were smashed to bits by Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Red Devils' bitter rivals both brushed them away at Old Trafford, with Liverpool running out 5-0 winners while City picked up one of the most convincing 2-0 victories you're ever likely to see on Saturday.

The passive nature of United's displays in both games have called Solskjaer's position into question.

They have one of the most expensively assembled squads in the league after splashing out on Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane in the summer, but their lack of structure and intensity leaves them languishing in sixth place - already ten points off top spot.

And it's reported by The Mail that Ronaldo has made his feeling about Solskjaer felt in the dressing room.

It's claimed he's "alarmed" by the drop in standards since he left the club in 2009, when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.

But he's not the only United star concerned.

It's claimed Bruno Fernandes, another key man, has been left perplexed by Solskjaer's management, feeling he has been given no 'direction' by the Norwegian.

There's also dismay over the call to sub on Marcus Rashford against City despite the England star not training for two days prior due to illness.

Some stars also feel Solskjaer is playing favourites. Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho have frequently been overlooked this season while underperforming stars like Fred and Harry Maguire continue to be picked.

It's believed United are giving serious thought to replacing Solskjaer and reports have suggested Brendan Rodgers is the man they want.

He is the bookies' favourite at just short of evens though the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick make up a box office list of contenders.

Ronaldo himself has been mooted to take over due to his leadership though it remains to be seen if the club would consider a player-manager appointment.
