‘Absolute embarrassment’: Some fans think Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has made a big mistake

A number of West Ham United fans have reacted to comments made by Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho ahead of their Premier League clash on Sunday.

Spurs have lost four of their last five league matches and head to the London Stadium six points behind David Moyes’ side with a game in hand to play.

In comparison, West Ham are flying high, sitting in the top five of the table and enjoying their best top-flight campaign at this stage of a season since the mid-1980s.

The Hammers beat Sheffield United 3-0 on Monday night to make it 42 points from 24 matches, three more points that they picked up in the whole of 2019-20.

The prospect of beating a bitter London rival should be motivation enough for West Ham as it is, but Mourinho’s pre-match comments may have just added that little bit extra.

“They are doing very well,” he told Tottenham’s YouTube channel.

“I believe that in the end of the season their position and our position, they are not going to be the same as where we are now.

“They have one week to prepare, one week to rest, less injuries and fatigue. It gives them a much better chance.”

Needless to say, some West Ham fans believe Mourinho’s comments fall into the “Moyes’ team talk has just been done for him” category:

Tottenham were 3-0 up with 10 minutes remaining in the reverse fixture against West Ham this season, but ended up drawing 3-3.
