Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has insisted the Welsh star and Jose Mourinho have a good relationship.

But he also believes his client will be happy to return to Real Madrid if Tottenham decide against making his loan move permanent at the end of the season.

Big things were expected when Bale rejoined his former club in the summer.

But so far he has struggled to make an impression in North London, and has started just two games in the Premier League.

Speaking in an interview with Goal, Barnett said Bale would not be too disappointed if he ends up back at the Bernabeu for the final year of his contract next season.

"He still loves Madrid," he said. "He hasn’t got any problems with the club, it’s a wonderful club.

"It wouldn’t be a problem [for him to return]. They just have to decide if they need him back, if he can play for Madrid and all these things. I guess you have to ask Mr. Zidane if he wants him, I don’t think so."

There have been some suggestions that Mourinho and Bale have fallen out, with the Portuguese manager said to be furious after Bale posted a picture of himself in training on Instagram after he had been left out of the squad to face Everton in the FA Cup last week through injury.

But Barnett say the rumours are not true, and that there is no issue between the two.

"They have a good relationship, there is no problem," he continued. "It's journalists who create the problem, but there is no problem.

"We expected him to play more; things haven't gone that well, but the team haven’t gone [as] good as well."

Bale could be in line for a rare start when Spurs take on Austrian side Wolfsberger in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.
