Two unidentified people on a motorbike opened fire outside the house of actor Salman Khan in Bandra on Sunday at 5 am, Mumbai Police said. The cops have received information about three rounds of firing outside the Galaxy Apartments in Bandra area. Mumbai Police's Crime Branch has reached the spot for investigation.

A team of forensic science experts also reached the site, the police said.

Meanwhile, CM Eknath Shinde had a telephone conversation with the actor. He also held discussions with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and suggested increasing the security of Salman Khan.

The police have begun collecting CCTV footage to identify the persons. Also, the security outside the actor's home has increased.

There's no official statement from the police or Khan's family on whether the actor was present in the house at the time of the incident.

Siv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey has reacted to the firing incident outside Salman Khan's house. Dubey took a dig at Eknath Shinde's government by saying, "Criminals are roaming around fearlessly". He added that no one is feeling safe in Mumbai and Maharashtra. "You have seen that recently there was a firing in Mumbai and an MLA fired in Dombivali. What kind of law and order is this? Home Minister, Chief Minister, where are you? Home Minister should take cognizance of this incident...".

Bollywood actress Pooja Bhatt condemned the gunfire incident at Salman Khand's home. Bhatt on the X platform wrote, "Horrific and condemnable. If this can happen with a police van parked outside the Khan residence for protection then it is fair to say that safety is an illusion. Need more stringent surveillance in Bandra for certain. Robberies were rife a while ago and now a shoot out? Scary".

FIR against two senior Delhi govt officials after U’khand NGO alleges ‘scam’

In March last year, an e-mail threatening Khan was received at his office following which the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar and another person under Indian Penal Code sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).

The FIR was based on a complaint lodged with Bandra Police by one Prashant Gunjalkar, who according to police frequently visited the Bandra-based residence of Khan and ran an artist management company.

The e-mail stated that Khan must have seen an interview given to a news channel by Lawrence Bishnoi, and if not, he should see it. Addressing Gunjalkar, it said if Khan wants to close the matter, he should talk face-to-face with Goldy bhai, adding “there is still time but agli bar, jhatka dekhne ko milega" (you'll see something shocking next time), police earlier said.

In June 2022, an unidentified person threatened Khan via a handwritten note.
