Liverpool will be desperate for three points to try and rediscover their winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield later today.

After dropping to second in the Premier League table following a 2-2 draw at Manchester United, Liverpool's hopes of winning the Europa League are now extremely slim after a shock 3-0 defeat at home to Atalanta in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

It's been a bad week for Jurgen Klopp's side, but victory against Palace, which would take them back to the top, temporarily at least, would certainly lift spirits.

Reds boss Klopp was boosted before the Atalanta clash as Diogo Jota, Trent-Alexander Arnold and Stefan Bajcetic all returned to the bench. Jota came on in the second half and he could be pushing for a start this afternoon.

So can Liverpool beat Palace and get back on track? Let's take a look...

We simulated Liverpool vs Crystal Palace to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

We predict that Palace could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Henderson; Ward, Andersen, Lerma; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Eze, Olise; Mateta.

Liverpool started far from their best in a sluggish opening to the game, and they were made to pay when Jean-Phillipe Mateta rifled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box to make it 1-0 to Palace after just nine minutes. Unfortunately for the Reds, the goal didn't act as a wake-up call, and the visitors could've made it 2-0 moments later if it wasn't for a terrific save to deny Eberechi Eze.

After going into the break a goal down, Klopp made his first change of the game as he introduced Jota and Curtis Jones off the bench - and the former made an instant impact to level the scores.

Darwin Nunez came close when he met Alexis Mac Allister's chipped pass over the Palace defence with an acrobatic effort, but Dean Henderson was able to tip the shot over the bar and out for a corner. Mac Allister sent the resulting set-piece into the box, and Jota jumped highest to head back across goal and into the corner of the net.

Liverpool then had the perfect chance to take the lead when Joel Ward took out Andy Robertson inside the box, but Mohamed Salah was unable to convert his penalty, with Henderson saving the weak spot-kick with ease. Klopp looked to his bench for inspiration once again as Cody Gakpo and Alexander-Arnold both came on, and in the 80th minute, the latter grabbed a goal.

A high press from the Reds saw Alexander-Arnold win back possession deep in the Palace half, and a one-two with Gakpo allowed the defender a sight of goal. Alexander-Arnold shot early, and his long-range effort flew past the keeper and into the bottom corner to secure the three points.
