Horner stresses importance of Verstappen win: "Great result"

by · GPblog.com

Max Verstappen has won the Mexican Grand Prix in dominant fashion. The Dutchman went past both Mercedes drivers in the first corner already and grabbed a large lead during the race. Christian Horner is very pleased with the victory of his Dutch driver, as well as that he is happy to see Sergio Perez on the podium.

"This is a great result for the team, for Max and for Checo. We are delighted with it," Horner said in front of the Sky Sports camera. The team boss of the Austrian racing team knows that this is a very important result with a view to the world championship. "It's still a long way to go, but this is an important win."

Double podium for Red Bull

When the lights went out, Verstappen opted for the outside from P3. That didn't do him any favours, as he was in the lead after the first corner. "The start was crucial, he left the space and he went for it," said the top man, who briefly thought of a one-two."I thought Checo was going to make it, but it's great to see him on the podium."

Ted Kravitz makes the suggestion that in future we should start from the second row more often."We were pretty disappointed yesterday but with the benefits of the tow I was able to convince them that it was the better place to be." Horner then tips his pit crew. They have been brilliant. We had some grief with the rear wings but they pulled it together," he concluded.
