In his first Premier League game in charge, Spurs failed to register a single shot on target while the Toffees dominated for large spells.

There was also a let off as VAR intervened to overturn a penalty given against Hugo Lloris in the second half as the north London club escaped with a point from Goodison Park.

Harry Kane again struggled to get into the game at all and even though it is early days for Conte, there is plenty to do.

Everton dominated the early stages of the game as Spurs struggled to get a foothold in the match.

Ben Godfrey had an effort saved by Hugo Lloris before Michael Keane saw a header go narrowly wide in the opening few minutes.

Kane barely managed a kick in the first 45 minutes as the Toffees looked the more likely to score but could not break the deadlock.

Jordan Pickford had a very quiet half with Spurs not managing a shot on target at all and the second half continued in a similar way.

Tottenham had their best effort when Sergio Reguilon’s shot from the edge of the box was headed out for a corner.

Ben Davies then saw an effort go narrowly wide before the biggest incident of the game.

Richarlison was brought down in the box by Lloris after 63 minutes and the referee did not hesitate in pointing to the penalty spot.

But he was instructed to have a second look at it by VAR, and deemed that the goalkeeper got a slight touch on the ball and overturned the decision.

That incident sparked Everton into a flurry of attacks, but could not find the winner.

Giovani Lo Celso came closest for Spurs as his effort beat Pickford, but his shot crashed against the post.

Rafael Benitez’s side ended the game with 10 men as Mason Holgate was sent off for a nasty challenge in added time.

It finished goalless with Spurs ninth in the table, while Everton are a point behind in 11th place.
