Fabio Paratici's £25.8m transfer that can help Antonio Conte find Tottenham's own Achraf Hakimi

Emerson Royal is really making an impression at Tottenham following his summer switch from Barcelona

Antonio Conte will already have discovered a lot about his Tottenham players despite only taking on the head coach role one week ago.

Not exactly having a lot of time to prepare for the Vitesse and Everton games last week, the Italian did state after the 0-0 draw against the latter that he has seen plenty of positives from his team.

Chances were at a premium for his side in the stalemate at Goodison Park, with Spurs' best openings falling to Emerson Royal, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso as they looked to break the deadlock on Merseyside.

With two of those chances falling to both their wing-backs, Spurs fans could be set to see a lot more of Emerson and Reguilon in the final third between now and the end of the season.

Discovering last campaign just what the Spaniard can offer the team going forward as he immediately impressed with his attacking play following his switch from Real Madrid, Emerson has done likewise this term after joining Tottenham on transfer deadline day from Barcelona in a £25.8million deal.

Needing to sign a new right-back with Matt Doherty struggling to make an impact in his first season at the club, managing director of football Fabio Paratici appears to have pulled off a transfer masterclass by luring the Brazil international to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Starting in six of his seven Premier League appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo, the former Spurs boss namechecked Emerson when asked by football.london about Cristian Romero's start to life in N17 in his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United.

"I think he's improving," said Espirito Santo on Romero. "Two cases, clearly of players, who are stepping up with games and improving in a very good way are Emerson and Cuti Romero.

"Premier League is very demanding. They felt the impact of the competition at the beginning, now they're settling down.

"That's what we need: players who arrive and as soon as they get the right adaptation, the talent is there. It will be good for us."

Not needing to mention the former Barcelona man as the question was about his new teammate Romero, the fact the Portuguese man spoke about the right-back spoke volumes about how he's hit the ground running for his new club.

Catching the eye with an all-action display in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the start of last month, Emerson has demonstrated in recent weeks that he is adapting to the pace and intensity of life in England rather quickly as his performances have been very impressive.

Teeing up Lucas Moura's winner in the Carabao Cup win at Burnley as he picked out his fellow countryman with a fine cross, the Sao Paulo-born star then wowed fans watching on inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Thursday in the 3-2 win over Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.

Starting in a more advanced position with new boss Conte opting to go with a three-man defence and wing-backs, Emerson always looked to attack when on the ball and linked up well down the right with Lucas.

Playing his part in goalkeeper Markus Schubert seeing red after attempting to lob the German when he came racing out of his goal, the player then brought out the skills towards the end with a number of stepovers in front of the south stand that went down well with those in attendance.

Again utilised in the right wing-back role at Everton, Emerson continued his fine form with another strong display against Rafael Benitez's side.

Pushing on at every opportunity, the player did have an opening on goal inside the first half but he unfortunately couldn't keep his header down after Reguilon had picked him out at the back post.

Also doing his bit defensively with Demarai Gray looking to trouble him, Emerson came out of the game with plenty of credit and was once again one of the team's shining lights on an otherwise forgetful afternoon in Liverpool.

Getting plenty of joy out of his wing-backs in the past, most notably Victor Moses at Chelsea and Achraf Hakimi at Inter Milan, the same could now happen this time with Emerson at Tottenham due to the attributes he has in his locker.

Although it will take something very special to surpass Hakimi's stats of seven goals and 11 assists in his year under Conte last term, Emerson may start to build up the numbers very soon due to the amount of time he is spending upfield.

Paratici's summer signing has already made a big impact in his short time at the club but the best could be about to come under the new Tottenham head coach.
