Anambra Governorship Election: Why Winner Was Not Declared by INEC

Despite the fact that Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured the majority of the votes cast in Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, INEC suspended the collation of results and declared it inconclusive.

Results after 20 local government areas declared shows a smaller margin of lead, relative to the number of outstanding votes from one outstanding local government area.

While Soludo leads his closest challenger, Valentine Ozigbo, with over 50,000 votes, Ihiala local government area alone has over 148,000 registered voters.

Nwankwo, who is a chieftain of the party, said members of the party need to come together to ensure that the governorship candidate coasts home to victory on Tuesday, November 9.

He called on APGA members and other political parties in his ward and the local government at large to support Soludo so as to take the state to the next level.
