Justin Gaethje reacts to brutal UFC 300 knockout loss: ‘I’m in great spirits’

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — “The Highlight” is going to be just fine.

Justin Gaethje suffered an absolutely brutal knockout loss at UFC 300 last night (Sat., April. 13, 2024) when Max Holloway slept him with one second left in the “BMF” title fight from inside T-Mobile Arena (watch highlights) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite losing his gimmick belt, Gaethje (as well as Holloway) was awarded a special $300,000Fight of the Night” bonus.

That’s quite the understatement.

Nevertheless, just a few hours after the devastating knockout, Gaethje shared an important health update via social media.

“I’m in great spirits with my family,” Gaethje wrote. “Thanks for all the love. What a sport. @BlessedMMA, you’re a dog. Congrats. Well deserved double bonus #ufc300.”

It’s great to hear that Gaethje is not dealing with any deleterious effects from the head trauma — it was a scary knockout. In fact, he was rushed out of the Octagon after the fight and received immediate medical attention.

“Sin City” also smacked Gaethje (25-5) because he gambled away a Lightweight title shot at UFC 300 and endured a bad beat, snapping his two-fight win streak, during which he emphatically won won the “BMF” belt.
