Highlights! Deiveson Figueiredo sparks epic ‘Prelims’ undercard with nasty choke over Cody Garbrandt | UFC 300

by · MMAmania.com

Deiveson Figueiredo sparked one of the greatest “Prelims” undercards of all time earlier tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, with a nasty second round submission (rear-naked choke).

Fight fans couldn’t believe their eyes when Figueiredo and Garbrandt walked out for the very first fight of the night. Two former champions that have been lobbying for a fight for nearly four years. It was a tremendous way to start the historic UFC 300 card.

Garbrandt, who has hit a bit of a resurgence entering this fight, looked good in the early going. He leaned on hard lead leg kicks and a few crisp right hands to score the early advantage and force Figueiredo on the defensive. That was until the Brazilian found a window of opportunity to use his strong grappling.

Figueiredo, who has three UFC submissions finishes under his belt before tonight, worked his way to full mount in the second round and started to land hard punches. Garbrandt turned over and was nearly forced to tap to a tight arm-triangle choke. Figueiredo eventually switched gears and went for the rear-naked choke. He got a hold of Garbrandt’s neck and squeezed to force the stoppage.
