Highlights! Max Holloway delivers legendary last-second knockout to viciously sleep Justin Gaethje, win ‘BMF’ title | UFC 300

by · MMAmania.com

Max Holloway delivered one of the best knockout finishes of all time earlier tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Blessed” slept Justin Gaethje with a last-second right hand to claim the “BMF” title.

Gaethje started to land heavy leg kicks in the early going that instantly showed on Holloway’s lead leg. That didn’t stop Holloway, though, as “Blessed” kept mobile while landing crisp punches from range. Holloway was eventually able to defend the leg kicks and it opened up more offense, including a crisp left hook that rocked Gaethje. “Highlight” got hurt again at the end of the first round when Holloway uncorked a spinning kick that looked to break Gaethje’s nose.

After a second round that saw Holloway accidentally poke Gaethje in the eye two times, both lightweights were willing to trade inside. Holloway’s shots were a little more crisp, though, and he seemed to sting Gaethje more than once. “Blessed” even mixed in a pair of spinning kicks that partially landed.

Gaethje came back in the fourth with more leg kicks. Holloway’s leg was badly bruised, but it didn’t seem to impair the former featherweight champion too much. Gaethje added a powerful right hand that clipped Holloway in the side of the head and dropped him to the canvas. It’s not often you see Holloway get knocked down.

Holloway went absolutely bonkers in the fifth round as he started to unload on Gaethje. “Blessed” had the “BMF” champion hurt and stumbling along the cage. Gaethje recovered, though, and regained his composure to go toe-to-toe with Holloway in the remaining seconds of the fight. That’s when Holloway connected with a perfect right hand that caught “Highlight” flush and put him to sleep with one second on the clock. It was absolutely insane.
