Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said he has named an unchanged starting line-up for this teatime's clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium because of last weekend's second-half showing against Liverpool.

United, following an uninspiring first half, recovered from a goal down to flip the game on its head through goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo. The duo scored an excellent goal apiece to give the Reds an unexpected advantage.

However, Liverpool clawed themselves level late on via a Mohamed Salah penalty, after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deemed to have tripped Harvey Elliott inside the box. Liverpool then squandered a great chance to win the game through Luis Diaz, who had earlier given them the lead.

Ten Hag, speaking to MUTV, said: "I think in the second half last week it was a good performance. It was a very good draw against Liverpool and we could have won as well.

"When, eight minutes before full-time, you are in the lead, you have to bring the winning position over the line."

Ten Hag was without the injured Antony for the Bournemouth clash. The Brazilian winger failed to travel with the squad to the Vitality Stadium, as the manager's selection choices diminished further amid a lengthening list of absentees.

United were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth when the two sides met at Old Trafford back in December, marking one of the Reds' worst performances of the season. Ten Hag, however, is adamant that result will have no impact on his side's mindset.

"No, because on the day it was a very bad day from our side," he added. "They (Bournemouth) played very good. They bring problems to any team in the Premier League, also the top teams.

"You have to play your best if you want to get a result. A result for us is only a win. We have to suffer, we have to sacrifice and we have to act as a team."
