'Maidaan' box office Day 2: Ajay Devgn's film eyes Rs 10 crore

Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' clashed with 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' at the box office and earned Rs 2.75 crore on Day 2. The much-delayed film is a biographical sports drama based on football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim.
'Maidaan' opened to overwhelming reviews from all quarters. On Day 2, the film earned Rs 2.75 crore, taking the total tally to Rs 9.85 crore. On April 12, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 8.81 per cent in the Hindi belt.
The film had a worldwide release on April 11 on the occasion of Eid, clashing with 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' at the box office.

About 'Maidaan's' box office performance, trade analyst Ramesh Bala told IndiaToday.in, "'Maidaan’ is made well, it is entertaining. The audience who have enjoyed films like 'Lagaan', 'Chak De India' in the past, have definitely gone for it. But things would have been different number-wise if there wasn't a clash at the box office."
Directed by Amit Sharma, 'Maidaan' is a biographical sports drama featuring Ajay Devgn in the role of football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. The screenplay is co-written by Salwyn Quadras, Aman Rai, Atul Shahi and Amit Sharma. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film features Priyamani, Gajaraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Boney Kapoor, Nitanshi Goel and Aayesha Vindhara in pivotal roles. The sports drama is jointly produced by Zee Studios, Bayview Projects and Fresh Lime Films.
