by Mollie Quirk · The MirrorTaylor Swift has seemingly referenced the breakdown of her relationship with Joe Alwyn with new lyrics from her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department.
The hitmaker, 34, is gearing up to released her brand new studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, later this week. TTPD marks Taylor's 11th album, with the speculation rife that it will contain hints and references as to why she broke up with Joe Alwyn, her ex-boyfriend.
At the start of April last year, outlets began reporting that Taylor and Joe had split after six years together. At the time, a source said: "It was not dramatic. The relationship had just run its course. It's why [Alwyn] hasn't been spotted at any [Eras Tour] shows."

Since then, Taylor continued her tour and went on to become TIME Magazine's Person of the Year, with her also striking up a new romance with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. But despite moving on, fans are convinced the singer's upcoming album will heavily reference her split from ex Joe.
And now Taylor has seemingly shared some BRAND NEW lyrics with her fans while promoting a special edition of her new record. Taking to X today, Taylor penned: "I wish I could un-recall how we almost had it all," before adding: "Pre-order THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT on phantom clear vinyl now exclusively at Target."
Fans have since reacted, with many believing the first line to be lyrics from a brand-new song yet to be heard. One person on the platform penned: "The pure heartbreak in that line. Oh we’re not ready for the album this Friday."
Another said: "NEW LYRICS?!!!!!! SCREAMING CRYING." While a third said: "SCREAMING IS THIS A LYRIC?". And a fourth went on: "These lyrics… I’m not f*cking emotionally ready."
The upcoming album has four different variants, each with a bonus track - The Manuscript, The Black Dog, The Bolter and The Albatross. Most of the songs will likely reference the breakdown of Taylor and Joe Alwyn’s relationship following their split in April 2023, with fans desperate to hear Taylor's side of the story in lyric form.
The standard version of the album has 16 songs: Fortnight (featuring Post Malone); The Tortured Poets Department; My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys; Down Bad; So Long, London; But Daddy I Love Him; Fresh Out the Slammer; Florida!!!" (featuring Florence and the Machine); Guilty as Sin?; Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?; I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can); Loml; I Can Do It with a Broken Heart; The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived; The Alchemy; and Clara Bow.
