Nottinghamshire Police have not yet confirmed the reason for the closure, with traffic monitoring sites describing it as a "police incident". The road is blocked between Middleton Boulevard and Redfield Road and officers can be seen parked across the carriageway.
Issuing a short statement just before 8am, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Due to an incident this morning, we would like to advise that the A52 will be closed in both directions until the foreseeable future."

Nottingham City Transport said some of its services would be affected, stating: "The road is expected to be closed for some time, with delays and disruption on Orange 35, 36 inevitable."
