All the parts of England set for 'ferocious' storms as UK heatwave ends
Ferocious storms will sweep the country and give way to an Arctic blast, with the UK set to be a far cry from the balmy conditions in recent days.
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveUK will be battered by terrifying thunderstorms on Sunday - as the mini-heatwave which topped 22C at times in London and the south of England this week is washed away. Ferocious storms will sweep the country and give way to an Arctic blast, with the UK set to be a far cry from the balmy conditions in recent days.
Ventusky weather maps show the Midlands, North West and North East of England worst-hit, alongside Scotland and Northern Ireland. In a tweet on Twitter/X, the Met Office said: "A chilly but largely dry and bright start across the UK on Sunday.
"Showers quickly developing in the northwest, turning heavy at times and gradually spreading south and east. Cooler than Saturday and turning breezier throughout the day." The Met Office has also given a brief overview of the weather in the West Midlands on its website.

"Largely dry with bright or sunny spells through the day, with perhaps the odd shower later in the far west. Feeling cooler than of late, and turning breezier later," it said. "Winds strengthening overnight and turning very blustery by the morning. A mix of clear spells and showers, these may merge into longer spells of rain and turn heavy with hail," it added.
Looking ahead to Monday, it went on: "Sunny spells and scattered blustery showers, these possibly heavy at times with hail. Feeling noticeably chiller compared with recent days in the brisk northwesterly winds." The outlook for Tuesday to Thursday reads: "Generally drier for the rest of the week though some showers possible at times.
"Often breezy. Temperatures around the seasonal average and not feeling as warm than of late." Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill said: "We are going to see some colder air plunging its way in as we go into the beginning of next week so things are going to turn markedly cooler. The low-pressure system affecting us through the latter part of the weekend and the start of next week will have shifted away toward Scandinavia and then we see high pressure building from the west.
"So Tuesday is something of a transition day in the sense that there will still be some showery rain around and we will end up with a bit of a northerly flow so quite a bit of a cold direction, so quite a chilly day on Tuesday with some showery rain around.
“If we skip forward a couple of days and by Thursday we are likely to have high pressure pushing its way in, becoming a bit more dominant across the western parts of the UK, perhaps still some rain around towards the north, but turning drier."
