Devika Baisakhi Mela draws thousands on 2nd day in Udhampur - Greater Kashmir

Udhampur, Apr 14: The historic Devika Baisakhi Mela continued to captivate crowds on its second day as the Department of Information and Public Relations, District Information Centre, Udhampur, presented a mesmerising cultural extravaganza on the banks of the holy Devika rivulet in Udhampur town.

The day saw a lineup of distinguished guests including PO Poshan and Mela Officer Subash Dogra, Deputy District Election Officer Dr. Anirudh Rai, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu Dr. Manmeet Kumar, District Panchayat Officer and Nodal Officer SVEEP Dr. Preeti Sharma, and District Information Officer Rajinder Digra, adding to the festive atmosphere.

   

Local artists from Udhampur District showcased the vibrant tapestry of Dogri folk music under SVEEP, earning thunderous applause from the diverse audience comprising people from all walks of life. The cultural bonanza left everyone spellbound, fostering a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The allure of the mela extended beyond cultural performances, as thousands of visitors and devotees from within and outside the district flocked to the Baisakhi Mela to partake in the festivities and take a sacred dip in the Devika Ghat.

Additionally, the second day saw a bustling crowd at temporary stalls offering sweets, toys, and accessories, adding to the festive fervor of the Devika Baisakhi Mela.
