Congress spreading lie on threat to constitution: Athawale
by Staff Reporter · The PioneerUnion Social Justice Minister Ramdas Athawale on Friday hit back at the Congress for its allegation that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was planning to change the Constitution if it secures 400 plus seats in seven-phased Lok Sabha polls for voting starts on April 19.
The Union Minister, who heads the Republican Party of India (Athawale), was here to campaign in favour of the BJP candidates.
Athawale said the Congress party which enforced emergency to snatch the fundamental rights, and which altered the constitution over 80 times is now shedding tears for preventing any amendment in the constitution.
The Modi government had enforced the constitution in Jammu and Kashmir and it is the government which works to strengthen the constitution and the democracy, he said.
"As there was no issue against the present Modi-led NDA government, the Congress along with other opposition parties is trying to mislead people that it would change the constitution”, he claimed.
“It is not constitution is danger, but the Congress and INDI Alliance were facing the survival”, he added.
