It comes as US President Joe Biden has announced plans to convene a Group of Seven advanced democracies meeting on Sunday "to co-ordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran's brazen attack".

This attack from Iran comes in retaliation to a strike that Israel widely received blame for on an Iranian consular building in Syria earlier this month, resulting in the death of two Iranian generals. It was stated by Israel that early on Sunday, Iran unleashed 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles.

Today's warning was released overnight, with the Foreign Office advising for all listed countries: "There is rising tension between Iran and Israel. Any military action could escalate quickly and could pose risks for the wider region. If you are in the region, or considering travel to the region, monitor news updates and continue to check FCDO travel advice for updates."

Popular holiday destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, which includes Dubai, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Tunisia, are among those mentioned in the alert. Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Yemen, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Oman, and Lebanon are also included.

UK officials warn that British tourists are at particular risk in these areas, stating: "There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets. You should remain vigilant at all times."

"UK Counter Terrorism Policing has information and advice on staying safe abroad and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. Find out how to reduce your risk from terrorism while abroad."

The Foreign Office has issued a warning, stating that a terror attack is 'likely' and could occur indiscriminately, including at locations frequented by foreigners.

The Gulf region remains a focus for terrorist threats with statements being released by terrorists about their intent to carry out attacks. These threats often mention targeting western interests, which could include UK citizens.

Potential targets listed are residential compounds, military sites, oil and transport infrastructure, aviation interests, crowded places, restaurants, hotels, beaches, shopping centres, and places of worship.
