5 persons arrested in Kulgam, Baramulla for illegal transportation of minerals - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 13: Cracking a whip on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 5 vehicles and arrested 5 drivers in Kulgam and Baramulla.

In Kulgam, a police party led by SHO Police Station DH Pora during Naka checking at DH Pora Chowk seized a vehicle (tractor). Besides, the police arrested the driver on the spot, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow. The accused driver has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Rather, resident of Yarikha. He has been shifted to police station DH Pora where he remains in custody.

   

In Baramulla, police parties under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri, Pattan and Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Kreeri, SHO PS Kunzer and Incharge PP Wussan seized 4 tractors and arrested 4 drivers namely Tariq Ahmad Ganie resident of Saloosa Kreeri, Ab Rashid Karnie resident of Wazapora Naidkhai, Younis Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Imran Khan both residents of Aboora Baramulla involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kreeri, Wussan & Kunzer.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation have been taken up.

“People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/river as it is a violation of government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law,” police said.
