3 arrested; mobile-SIM module busted in Ambphalla jail - Greater Kashmir

Jammu, Apr 13: Police have stated to have busted a sensational mobile-SIM module in central jail Ambphalla Jammu with the arrest of three accused.

A police spokesperson said, “On April 2, 2024 a Cosco ball was found in the premises of Amphala jail Jammu during routine searches. When this ball was opened, one mobile (Chinese), a SIM and charging lead wrapped in it (Cosco ball) were found.”

   

“On receipt of this information, a case FIR NO. 36/2024 U/S 42 Prison Act was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation of the case was entrusted to in-charge Police Post Rehari and a probe was started. Sensing the gravity of the situation and incident in a sensitive location, a special team, headed by SDPO City North, Jammu Devinder Singh Bandral and assisted by SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Rakesh Singh, activated the human intelligence system and collected all technical data. The team was constituted following the direction of SP City North, Jammu Shivam Siddharth,” he said.

The spokesperson said that in this connection, one person Mohammad Akheel Wani, resident of Belicharana, was arrested. “Wani disclosed that he provided the SIM to other accused Harsh Singh, son of Ramesh Singh, resident of Bikram Chowk Jammu. Upon this, the Police team arrested Harsh Singh, who disclosed during questioning that he along with one Vikas Singh alias Raja, son of Jaswant Singh, resident of Bhagatpur, Gho Manhasa made a plan at park near Bikram Chowk-Ware House with criminal conspiracy and wrapped one Chinese mobile phone along with SIM and a charging lead in the Cosco ball,” the spokesperson said.

“Subsequently they both went to Amphala on April 2, 2024 on a motorcycle (Splendor), bearing registration number JK02CT-1088, and threw the Cosco ball inside the premises of jail from the boundary wall of the Amphala jail in order to aid a state prisoner. On April 11, 2024, the main accused namely Vikas Singh was arrested and the motorcycle used in the commission of the offence was also seized,” he said.

Further investigation of the case is going on.
