UFC 300 results in full as Alex Pereira KOs Jamahal Hill to defend world title

Alex Pereira knocked out Jamahal Hill in the first round to retain his light-heavyweight world title after a thrilling UFC 300 card

Alex Pereira KO'd Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 to defend his light-heavyweight world title.

Pereira was looking to make the first defence of his belt at the mega-event since winning the title with a KO against Jiri Prochazka last November. Former champion Hill was fighting for the chance to win the belt that he never officially lost, but was forced to vacate after rupturing his achilles.

The champion landed some good kicks early on and hill just missed with a big overhand counter. Hill landed a low blow with a body kick but Pereira didn't want to halt the action and dropped the American with his trademark left hook just moments later, ending the fight with follow-up ground-and-pound. Zhang Weili def. Yan Xiaonan by unanimous decision (49-45, 49-45, 49-45)

Zhang took the back of Xiaonan in the closing moments of the opening round and locked up a rear-naked choke. Xiaonan was saved by the bell and appeared to not know where she was as she walked back other corner visibly dazed. Zhang flattened Xiaonan out on the canvas in round two and was landing heavy ground-and-pound, but the challenger bounced back by knocking Zhang down twice in the following rounds. Zhang continued to out-grapple Xiaonan until the final bell and got the nod to defend her world title.

Max Holloway def. Justin Gaethje by KO Round 5, 4:59 - wins 'BMF' title

Both men had their moments in the opening round but it was Holloway who had the best moment, landing a spinning back kick that cut the nose of Gaethje open. Holloway avoided a point deduction despite illegally poking Gaethje in the eye on two occasions. Holloway was seemingly in cruise control but Gaethje put him down with a right hand in the championship rounds. Holloway pointed to the canvas in the last 10 seconds to swing it out with Gaethje in the middle of the cage and he KO'd him with just one second left in the fight.

Arman Tsarukyan def. Charles Oliveira by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Oliveira was inches away from a quick finish when he caught Tsarukyan in a guillotine choke but the Armenian was able to break free just as his face went purple. The action was briefly halted when Oliveira accidentally landed an illegal uptick. The tide turned in round two when Tsarukyan started to have more success on the ground, controlling Oliveira from the top position and leaving him bloodied with strike. Oliveira came close to securing a choke in the dying moments as Tsarukyan was saved by the bell.

Bo Nickal def. Cody Brundage by submission (rear-naked choke) Round 2, 3:38

College wrestling standout Nickel wasted no time in trying to take Brundage down as the fight got underway. Nickel quickly found himself on Brundage’s back and punched away to try and set up a submission. Nickel was met with boos after being taken into the second round for the first time in his MMA career and he silenced his critics by tapping out Brundage with a rear-naked choke.

Jiri Prochazka def. Aleksandr Rakic by TKO (punches) Round 2, 3:17

Rakic was connecting early with low kicks as Prochazka’s calf was bruised in just minutes. The Czech fighter ducked and dived with his unorthodox style but wasn’t having much success as Rakic found a home for his right hand. The non-stop action continued to get better in the second round as Prochazka began to connect with more of his strikes. Rakic was on wobbly legs after a head kick and flurry from Prochazka snd referee Herb Dean had seen enough after the Czech continued to pummel his rival on the ground.

Aljamain Sterling def. Calvin Kattar by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Sterling, who was making his featherweight debut, started off well in the new weight class by pressing Kattar against the fence and taking him down to the canvas. The Las Vegas crowd weren’t happy with Sterling’s approach as he continued to hold Kattar down without doing much. Sterling didn’t let the boos bother him as he continued to take Kattar down in the last round and control him until the final bell.

Kayla Harrison def. Holly Holm by submission (rear-naked choke) Round 2, 1:47

Harrison’s judo skills were on display early as she hip tossed Holm to the canvas but the 42-year-old reserved the position to end up on top. Holm’s success didn’t last for long as Harrison got her down again and was landing heavy blows. Holm had no answer for Harriosn’s grappling skills and was forced to tap out in the second round when the Olympian locked in a rear-naked choke.

Diego Lopes def. Sodiq Yusuff via TKO (punches) Round 1, 1:29

Lopes started off brightly by landing a left hook that dropped Yusuff, but the Nigerian did well to recover and get back to his feet. Yusuff seemed to have his feet back under him but Lopes landed a right hand just moments later that dropped him again. The referee wanted to see no more after Lopes landed some follow-up punches, awarding him the KO win in under 90-seconds.

Renato Moicano def. Jalin Turner by TKO (punches) Round 2, 4:11

Turner knocked down Moicano in the closing seconds of the opening round but allowed the Brazilian to get back to his feet instead of closing the show. Moicano recovered well after being dropped by taking Turner down in the next round and the American’s mistake came back to haunt him when Moicano stopped him with ground-and-pound punches.

Jessica Andrade def. Marina Rodriguez by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

It was fairly even on the feet between the two Brazilian women in the opening round, but Andrade capitalised on an error from Rodriguez by taking her down after she slipped. Andrade turned up the pace in the second round she looked to negate Rodriguez's height advantage by closing the distance to land big punches. Andrade scored a knockdown in the final 30 seconds and although she couldn't get the finish, she did enough to get the nod on points.

Bobby Green def. Jim Miller by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-25, 29-26)

Green was punished for his trash talk just moments into the fight when Miller hurt him with a big left hand. Green continued to showboat for the Vegas crowd and his punches were adding up as Miller was leaking crimson red from under his eye. Green had no respect for Miller's skills with his hands down by his waist, dropping the veteran in the final minute with a flurry of punches. Miller was able to survive and fan were on their feet at the final bell.

Deiveson Figueiredo def. Cody Gabrandt by submission (rear-naked choke) Round 2, 4:02

Garbrandt was down in the opening round but it appeared to be a slip after Figueiredo landed a kick. Figuereido flattened the American out on his back in the second round and was looking to choke him out with an arm-triangle. Garbrandt defended well and got back to his feet, but in doing so gave up his back and Figuereido capitalised on the mistake by forcing him to tap out with a rear-naked choke.
