Conor McGregor lauds Jim Miller’s centennial trifecta that ended with UFC 300 bloodbath: ‘As real as it gets!’
Fans looking for some “Just Bleed” action at UFC 300 were rewarded when Jim Miller fought through some nasty cuts around his eye, covering everything (and everyone) around him in crimson.
by Ryan Harkness · MMAmania.comJim Miller is now 2-1 in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) centennial pay-per-view (PPV) events after losing a bloody battle to Bobby Green at UFC 300 tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Miller defeated Mac Danzig at UFC 100 in 2009 and finished Takanori Gomi at UFC 200 back in 2016. But, he was just unable to get past the lengthy strikes of “King” in “Sin City” this evening.
Indeed, Green hammered “A-10” from all angles, cutting him around the right eye halfway through the second round.
Not that it stopped Miller from enjoying the scrap. Coming into the final round, Jim hyped up the crowd for the violence that was about to continue.
Despite the best efforts of the cutman between rounds, Miller was a bloody mess one minute into round three. And it only got worse from there. In the final moments of the fight, Green invited Miller to stand and bang in the center of the Octagon. Miller agreed ... only to eat a massive punch that nearly ended the fight.
“You can smell the blood from the booth,” commentator Jon Anik exclaimed as Green attempted to beat Miller into submission.
Miller survived to the final bell, but it was all Green on the scorecards. Indeed, he took the unanimous decision 30–27, 30–25 and 29–26. Miller takes the “Toughest S.O.B.” award along with the distinction of having fought at UFC 100, UFC 200 and UFC 300.
That’s badass ... even in defeat.
The fight earned a nod from Conor McGregor, who posted on social media — because he doesn’t have a deal done yet to return (details here) — saying, “Bravo, Jim Miller! 100, 200, 300! Incredible feat! As real as it gets!”
Hopefully, McGregor returns ahead of UFC 400.
