Manchester City had two players return from injury against Luton Town but John Stones dropped out of the squad

Walker picked up an injury with England during the March international break and Ake was injured in the first game back against Arsenal, with neither travelling in midweek for the Champions League match against Real Madrid. However, both are back in the squad for the Premier League game against the Hatters.
Neither are in the starting XI but their inclusion in the squad will be seen as a positive as Pep Guardiola plans for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday. Walker in particular is recognised as the best player to deal with the lively Vinicius Jr.

There was no room for Stones in the squad as he has not recovered in time to face Luton. Rodri spoke after the Real game of how Stones had carried on at the Bernabeu despite feeling tightness, and while it helped his team for that game it has seen the England international have to sit this one out.
Rodri also spoke of needing a rest after that game, having turned in under par performances in his last two matches. The Spaniard got his wish, joining the in-form Phil Foden on the bench as Guardiola made five changes from the team that drew 3-3 in midweek at the Bernabeu.
City can move two points clear at the top of the Premier League for a night if they beat relegation-threatened Luton at the Etihad. Liverpool host Crystal Palace tomorrow with leaders Arsenal at home to Aston Villa as a thrilling three-way title race continues.
