by Harry Davies · The MirrorMax Holloway earned a record-breaking $600,000 in bonus money for his last-second KO against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.
Holloway won the symbolic 'BMF' title by leaving Gaethje face-down on the canvas with an overhand right in their fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night. UFC boss Dana White promised fighters competing at the mega-event $300,000 in bonus money, six times more than the usual $50,000 that is handed out for events.
The Hawaiian was moving up a weight class to challenge for the symbolic belt against former interim champion Gaethje. Holloway was cruising his way to a points win but took the middle of the cage and pointed to the middle of the cage to swing it out with Gaethje, who welcomed his request.

Gaethje's decision was a costly one as Holloway connected with an overhand right that KO'd him with just one second left in the fight. White was among those who lost their mind at the KO as he told reporters including Mirror Fighting: "Tonight embodied what that BMF belt was built for and their should be a picture of that fight in the dictionary when you look up 'BMF'.
"It was incredible. I don't know if you noticed but that fight sucked the life out of everybody was just sitting there dead, it was a huge adrenaline dump. People always ask me what I do, I sell 'Holy s***' moments for a living. That was the ultimate 'Holy s***' moment of all-time. There's no bigger 'Holy s***' than that."
Holloway called out both featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and lightweight ruler Islam Makhachev who will defend his belt against Dustin Poirier on June 1. "I did a bunch of interviews last week and I told you to ask me that now and here we are. I've got a bunch of options and it feels great. We're going to sit down with the team and discuss it. First things first, I'm going to rest. I've got my wife and my beautiful family here and we're just going to chill."
