Scottie Scheffler wins the Masters to answer Tiger Woods question in best way possible
Scottie Scheffler landed his second green jacket in 24 months at Augusta National, after seeing off the likes of Max Homa and Ludvig Aberg to win the Masters by four shots
by Joshua Lees · The MirrorScottie Scheffler has been crowned Masters champion at Augusta National, as the world No. 1 continues his domination at the top of professional golf.
Scheffler carded an impressive four-under-par 68 in Sunday's final round, having fought off the likes of Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa to secure his second Masters title. The world No. 1 headed into the final 18 holes of the week with a one-shot lead over Morikawa who he joined in the final pairing.
And after a solid start with back-to-back pars, he made a birdie three at the par-four third. He soon gave this shot back though, as his first blemish of the day came a hole later at four to bring him back to seven-under for the week. Whilst Scheffler has proven time and time again to be the best on the planet in recent months, he had quite the chasing pack behind him who were well on his heels throughout Sunday.

And after the 2022 champion made another bogey at the par-four seventh the tournament was blown wide open. As he dropped back to six-under, he was soon forced to share his lead , as Homa and Aberg made their move. The latter's continued the amazing rise of the young Swede, who looked like an Augusta regular despite making his debut.
Aberg played his opening nine holes in three-under to grab a share of the lead, as he looked to become the first man since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 to win the Masters at the first attempt. His hot start was soon forced to hit the breaks though, as disaster struck at the 11th.
The European starlet over drew his second shot into the green, finding the water hazard down the left before going on to make double bogey to drop back in the field. Meanwhile Scheffler was trending in the opposite direction having made three birdies on the bounce between eight and 10 to move three clear.

After a bogey of his own at 11, he hit back with birdie at 13 to further cement himself at the top. Aberg however was not going away, as the youngster offered the perfect response to his blemish at 11. He made birdies at both 13 and 14 after a par at the 12th to once again reduce the deficit on Scheffler to two shots.
The American however is world No. 1 for a reason, putting on a clinic at the perfect time by making kick-in birdies of his own at the 13th and 14th. Amid his recent dominance, Scheffler has earned the biggest compliment in golf having earned comparisons of the great Tiger Woods.
And whilst he has some way to go to match the 15-time major champion the American is making a modern day legacy of his own, and only continued this by closing out the tournament on Sunday. After a par at the 15th, a superb birdie two follow at the iconic 16th, putting one arm into the green jacket.
As cool as ever he headed to the 17th tee with a comfortable four-shot lead, and after coming home with two pars on the scorecard, he was once again crowned the champion of Augusta National.
