Latest Chelsea injury news as Mauricio Pochettino's injury problems continue to mount up ahead of the weekend

Chelsea have released a fresh injury update ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash with Everton at Stamford Bridge as Mauricio Pochettino continues to battle with injury setbacks.

The Argentine has suffered with numerous injury problems in his debut season at the club. As well as the long-term injuries to the likes of Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia, key players like Reece James and Christopher Nkunku have missed large portions of the season.

Ahead of the visit of Everton on Monday night, Chelsea will be hopeful of welcoming back some players. Pochettino is expected to provide an update on Cole Palmer after he was taken off at Sheffield United last weekend and Malo Gusto, who missed the game altogether.

However, the pair were nowhere to be seen in the club's weekly injury update. On Friday, Chelsea released an update on Pochettino's squad and there were three new inclusions.

Raheem Sterling is 'absent due to illness' alongside Robert Sanchez. Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi, who have played a combined 78 games this season, are doubts for the Monday night clash.

The update claims the duo are 'undergoing medical assessment'. Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Pochettino admitted he was unsure if they would feature on Monday.

"We'll see. They are under assessment," he said. "They have different types of issues. We don't believe they are big issues but we will see if they can be available.

"At the moment, they have not trained after Sheffield and that is why we don't know."

In better news, Ben Chilwell is back 'in partial team training' meaning he could be in contention to feature at Stamford Bridge. Nkunku (hamstring), Levi Colwill (toe), Lavia (thigh), James (hamstring), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) and Fofana (knee) all remain out and continue 'to undergo' their rehabilitation programmes.
